Numerical Simulation of Spherical Couette Flow

Abstract:

In this paper, axisymmetric Couette flow between two c oncentric rotating spheres is simulated numerically by the spectral method. First, velocitystrea m function form of  the NavierStokes equations which homogeneous boundary condition is given by in troducing Stokes  flow. Second, by introducing eigenfunctions of Stokes operator as basis of fini te dimensional approximate subspaces,  and applying these to the spectral approximation of Couette flow, numerical exp eriment was carried out.   Finally, numerical result is presented.
