ON THE BLOWING-UP AND QUENCHING PROBLEMS FOR SEMILINEAR HEAT EQUATIONS

Abstract: In recent years it is found that solutions of initial value problems or initial-boundary value problems for semilinear parabolic equations may blow-up or quench. In this paper we consider problem of preventing the occurrence of these phenomena. By introducing a sufficiently "small" coefficient g(t) or g(t, x) to the nonlinear term f(u),we can preclude the blowing-up or quenching of the solution.
