Mixed Finite Element Approximation for the Plate Contact Problem

Abstract:

The finite element approximation for the fourth order elliptic variational inequality of the second kind modeling of the plate contact problem is
investigated in this paper. By the regularized method, the variational inequality is reduced to the variational equation. By using the refined Ciarlet-Raviart's mixed finite element method via the technique of mesh dependent norm, some error estimates are obtained.
