Abstract:

Let X be a Banach space and {ej}\ooj=1 be a sequence
 in X. The author shows
 that {ej}\ooj=1 is a basic sequence if and only if
\oon=1rn\anj  converges for every  j1 and
\oon=1rn\ooj=1\anjej=\ooj=1(\oon=1rn\anj)ej
holds for every choice of scalar variables {\anj}
such that \ooj=1\anjej converges for each
 n1
 and any choice of scalar variables {rn} such that \oon=1\ooj=1rn\anjej converges.
 Moreover,  some applications about the result are given.
