QUANTUM MECHANICAL SOLUTION OF A DAMPED HARMONIC OSCILLATOR WITH TIME-DEPENDENT PARAMETERS

Abstract: By means of a time-dependent canonical transformation, the time evolution operator and the wave function of a damped harmonic oscillator with time-dependent parameters are explicitly constructed in the occupation number representation. The expectation values of mechanical variables are then shown to obey the classical equation of motion. Finally, the wave function in the coordinate representation is also derived.
